A wine tour to your taste
Last month I joined an amazing group of ladies lady boss’s brought together by the lovely Liv from House of White and we toured some of Mornington’s gorgeous wineries.
The day was tailored to suit our palate, all of us loving a fine drop of wine and delicious food our preferences were put forward to Adam from Wine Compass and he created a tour to suit our needs. First stop was none other than the fabulous new Jackalope Hotel which has been built on the Willow Creek vineyard. We had the absolute pleasure of wine tasting in their amazing barrel room and I have to put forward the two Pinot Noir’s- these guys know their Pinot’s so don’t be shy with tastings!!!
So we were well loaded on the taste of Willow Creek before sitting down for a 8 course meal at Rare Hare, the wine and food concept built overlooking the winery where we shared plates of delicious bits… the Pumpkin dish is OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD!
After a fanciful tour of the rooms and luxurious pool at Jackalope hotel we headed off to quite possibly my new favourite winery Morning Sun Vineyard where Adam preceeded to tell us we would most certainly leave loving the wine and suitably entertained by it’s beautiful owners. We felt a little sceptical about him making such a big call, but sure enough within minutes of beginning our tasting one of the beloved owners had all of us in fits of laughter. We were educated, drank beautiful wine and walked away with some life values such as ‘Always open a bottle of bubbles at 11AM each day’ That’s a rule I’d like to live by.
We ended our tour at a third winery that also did a mean cider, which really wet the appetite of the cider lovers amongst us and we went on our jolly way home, a mini bus filled with ladies who were equally filled to the brim with mornington’s finest. It was such a beautiful day and what I love is that the tour was designed around our needs.
